I was using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for the past few months and really like the device but in the past couple of days my daughter has pretty much hi-jacked it from me lol..
So, needless to say that I am looking to get a new tablet this weekend and my question is, should I go with another Tab 2(red version just for a change) or should i go with a Nexus 7...
I like the 7" tablets better than a 10" screen just because it is light weight and fits perfectly in my hand.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

It depends on what you want it for.

Cons for N7:
No rear camera
No SD slot (I recommend the 32gb version due to this)
No HDMI port


Those are the three main cons to this device so if those are not important to you, get the N7 because it is otherwise a great device. Being the official Google tablet, it is the first to get OS updates.

Camera, I'm not extremely worried about because I always have my Galaxy S3 with me for when I need a pic. Yes the rear facing camera would be nice but not a deal breaker.
I planned on the 32g, because I quickly ate up the roughly 5g of usable space on the Galaxy.
I guess I should have clarified as to what I will mostly be using it for: Mostly social networking i.e. Facebook, Twitter and so forth, taking a few notes and emails here and there for work and some light gaming here and there.

This is my 4th android tablet and I will say that I will never buy a non Nexus/official Google tablet again. The build quality is solid, it performs great, it is a great price, and it gets fast updates.

The camera is the biggest deal for me, but I haven't missed it a whole lot. Maybe the next gen of Nexus tablets will have it.

The Nexus 7 will be fine for you. As stated the only real reason to get any other 7" tablet over the N7 is if you need HDMI/MHL out, a rear camera, or SD card support. If you can live without those you won't find a better tablet for the price.

get the nexus 7. after using nexus S and seeing people complaining about update I decided i would never buy a non nexus device.
so i bought nexus 4 and nexus 10 couple of months ago.

N7's resolution is easier on my eyes. I was looking at same choice, I'm happy I went N7.
