So I got a Nexus 7 about a month ago and I'm enjoying what Android has to offer but I've come across an issue I can't figure out, and was hoping for some help. Within the People (contact) app my contact information doesn't appear (all of my other contacts appear and changes sync across devices). I'm listed at the top on the contact list but none of my information from my Gmail contact is there. I tried to shut off sync and then delete the data within the People app but somehow it reappears. I was hoping to be able to delete the contents of the app and re-sync with Gmail to see if my contact info showed up. So I guess I have more than one issue... Just to be specific this is what I've done:
-Shut off auto sync app data
-Confirm that that sync is shut off for contacts....settings>accounts-Google>Accounts ( everything was unchecked)
-Open the app drawer and drag the People app to info>Clear Data ( by the way.... the People app doesn't show up under Settings>Apps????)
-I re-booted between tries.
-I also unchecked "Back up my data" as well as "Automatic restore" with the same results.

I can watch the data go bye bye but when I go back to the People app the contacts are still all there. Also if I return to app info, the data I deleted is back. Where else would this be coming from? The only account I have contact information in is Gmail. Is this stored locally on the Nexus 7? I came across a few threads that reference a folder with the Nexus 4 that stored contacts but I didn't find it on the 7. Are any of these issues the cause of my contact information not coming over from Gmail?
