I have a new case for my Nexus 7 .When I double the case lid back the screen shuts off. What causes this? I cant see any switch that might be pressed.

It's a magnetic sensor. iPads have something similar.

Also, MacBook Pros have the same thing. If you put a magnet near the magnetic sensor, it will mimic the laptop being closed and go to sleep.

If the magnet closes the N7 off when the cover is folded back under the case the case is faulty and should be returned. The case is supposed to. shut off the. N7 only when you close it over the screen and when you open it you should get a locked screen.

Whoops, I guess I didn't read the original post closely enough. I didn't catch that the tablet was shutting off after folding the lid back. I agree that this must be due to a faulty case--a well-designed smart cover will not do this. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
