Anyone else install the latest (as of yet unreleased update) for the Nexus One?

This is the 2nd update to the Nexus one. The last one (ERE27) was meant to fix the 3g issues and added multitouch support to the apps.

While this time around, the user visible changes are minor, there seem to be some significant changes under the hood. For one, my battery life seems to be significantly better. Its hard to quantify, but I had my phone on for 9 hours, and usually I'll be down to about 43% battery life when I get home, and after the beta update, I'm still at 71% after 9 hours.

Also others at XDA developers have stated much stronger 3g signals, with the numbers to prove it. I've always had great 3g with T-Mobile, so I haven't noticed any difference in this area. Has anyone else noticed any other changes?

I've been running it for 1-2 days now, and haven't noticed any touchscreen glitches so far. I assume the (B) in the ERE36B designation stands for beta, so there can be further improvements/tweaks added before it goes out in OTA form... but the two biggest changes seem to be much improved 3g signal strength and better battery life. I don't think the code has been dropped into the AOSP, so until that happens (likely after the OTA goes out), we won't know exactly what changes have been made.

I monitored my signal levels on my Nexus One for WCDMA only for 5 minutes before the I patched to the new radio, 5 minutes after, and 5 minutes with my wifes Cliq

Before (Stationary UE and it constantly performed idle-mode handovers between 4 different cell's)
32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2
-97 dBm 8asu
-111 1 ,-101 6 ,-111 1 ,-107 3 ,-103 5 ,-107 3 ,-111 1 ,-99 7 ,-107 3 ,-111 1 ,-107 3

After the patch:
-97 8, , -101 6, -97 8, -101 6, -99 7, -101 6, -103 5, -101 6, -103 5, -101 6, -99 7

CLIQ in same exact stationary location:
-105 4, -99 7, -101 6
---------------

Some things to note..
Before upgrade, avg dbm=106.8
After upgrade, avg dbm=100.27
CLIQ avg dbm=100.66

Here's one user's experience with the 3g improvements in the ERE36B rom on his Nexus One..
Note... lower dbm scores mean a stronger signal.

That is quite an improvement, really.

Maybe Google/ HTC fixed it for good this time.

How does one get said UPDATE?

I'm on ere27 now. I just checked for updates and it said none were available

Its a leaked beta update for the Nexus one. Its not available yet for end users. I would wait for the full update via OTA. But being Beta, there are already several improvements.

not using the ERE36B ROM, running the Desire ROM, but using essentially the ERE36B radio (32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2 baseband)
