Any HEAVY texters happy with N1?

I'm a really really heavy texter and i've been considering dumping my old POS phone and getting a N1..
The thing is, i'm still in highschool and to text in class ,i have to hide my phone from the teachers, and having a qwerty keyboard on my current phone helped..
I could text really well without looking.. etc..
Anyone get that good with the N1 yet?

I have a similar question. I SMS/Twitter like crazy on my iPhone, but it's flawless on that screen. All other touchscreens I've used have have not even come close (including the DROID), but my question is... Current/Former iPhone users would best answer this (those owning and who liked the screen). "How good is the typing on the N1 compared to the iPhone?"

Ordered mine yesterday... still waiting for it to be shipped

1st- stop smsing in class & learn... lol.

2nd- if you must... lol... i don't think a touchscreen-only phone is the best option if you do a lot of typing w/o looking. I'm able to do it to some extent on my iPhone, but not for long and it took a while for that.

Swype is a solid app for quick texting imo. I almost got to the point where I could swype my finger for what I wanted without looking so that would be an option to look at.

I could text with my eyes closed on Blackberry Bold. Nothing has been as easy to type on since. For me, the Nexus landscape keyboard is much easier to use than the iPhone was. So I'd say it's in the middle. I don't think you can text on any touchscreen without looking. The autocorrect seems to be better on the N1

yeah texting without looking is gonna be nearly impossible on any touchscreen phone. but being a heavy texter, im pretty happy with the native keyboard on the n1. but i have an ipod touch and i have to say i make less mistakes with the ipod.
on my old mytouch though, i had the htc keyboard set up rather than the naitive android one and the htc keyboard was actually very close in ease to my ipod, i thought.
on a side note, i find the voice-to-text/dual mic combo on the n1 to be very helpful, especially when im driving. i can have the windows down and music playing and it would still work perfectly.

and if anyone knows how to get the htckeyboard on the n1 can you please let me know

I just purchased a Nexus One. I was coming from a BlackBerry. The thing I miss the most is the keyboard. I feel that it will just take me some time to get used to the virtual keyboard, but once I do I should be fine. I definitely can't text as fast as I did with the BB, but that's understandable for obvious reasons. As I said, it should ease up a bit as I get used to it. I'm sure you would feel the same way.

I have an iPhone from my company and an N1. I am also a former Blackberry Bold user from my company. There are 2 things I want to expand on:

1. I find the N1 as easy to use as the iPhone as far as soft keyboards go. The iPhone has a slight lead because of the dictionary for me. This is with the native Android keyboard. I have used the HTC keyboard before and it is better than the iPhone's IMO. That being said, there is very little difference as is.

2. Neither are as good as a Blackberry. I have read where people say they are better on an iPhone/N1. I agree to an extent. The soft keyboard is easier to use from a thumb muscle standpoint but ultimately the BB wins for me every time. You can use it easier without looking and it is just a bit more natural.

Finally I would say do not let this deter you though. From an OS standpoint and overall user experience, nothing touches Android IMO. You won't be disappointed because you will adapt to the keyboard and get very good with it and have all the other benefits of Android.

When you can speak all of your texts, who needs a keyboard?

However, where silence is needed, the on screen keyboard is great, especially in landscape. Totally beats my old 3GS typo-machine!
