Play Store won't open

Just got a Nexus Player. Set it up just fine, plays videos and stuff, so I know the network is good. Updated to 5.1.1 no sweat. Now the Play Store won't open. I tried a factory reset, and right after the reset it would open, but I closed it and let it sit (because it seemed like it was trying to update), and it won't open again. Totally flummoxed. It's sat for about 45 minutes now. Other apps work fine - logged into Netflix, used Youtube, etc. But I can't see that anything is installing, and the app just spins with the circle on endless repeat. Rebooted, same result. Any ideas?

Apparently I'm just impatient. After almost an hour and a half, whatever updates it was doing completed and the store opened. Everything seems good now.
