My dream pack would have:
- Attached cable not required
- Less than 13000mAh to keep it pocketable
- At least 1 USB-A and 1 USB-C port

Any suggestions?

Make the USB-C port PD compliant to be optimized for Pixels and the USB-A prot QC3.0 compliant to be optimized for most other recent devices and it would hit everything I want...

I have not found a pocket sized battery with USB-C at all. If I think I'll need the portable charger, I take a satchel and throw everything in.

Any links for a slim USB-C battery pack with a built-in cable? Currently, using this (https://www.amazon.com/EasyAcc-Ultr...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU5529615) for my GS6.

Thanks

I've searched high and low and there's nothing yet, there's barely any spec compliant Type C packs with PD to begin with (let alone ones with built in cables) and the handful available are all larger 10,000+ packs. I agree that it's a HUGE convenience, I have a very similar one from Anker (Astro Slim 6000, long discontinued)...

Not having to worry about the cable ever or being able to carry it like a second phone in my other pocket (or alongside the phone in the same pocket when charging with a minimal bulge) is huge for me. I don't want a larger battery or a smaller one that's not good for much more than a single charge.

If I were buying one right now I'd just get the one you linked, very well reviewed and recommended by Wirecutter which has an excellent roundup. I intend to continue using the one I have with a micro B to Type C adapter until something better comes along.

There is a similar no-name battery on Amazon that while not native Type C it does add one minor convenience: it comes with two adapters (Type C and Lighting) which can be tucked and stored into a little nook on the battery itself...

I can look up the link in my browsing history if you want, it's cheap but I don't think it's worth the spend (given the scarcity of reviews and reliable info on it) vs just pocketing a similar adapter for use with the kind of batteries we already own. Hopefully the Pixel are popular enough to kick development into gear.

Having a proprietary QC port alongside a Type C PD port actually violates the USB-IF spec, FWIW, QC just needs to start fading away... Not like non-phone devices use it. Make it one solid 15W (or better) Type C port + a bog standard BC2.1 2.4A Type A port for me...

I love this. I get the "charging rapidly" with it also.

Samsung Fast Charge 5200mAh Battery Pack , Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01378AXI...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU5533934

And just a simple converter (or you could just use a simple A to C cable)

[2 in 1 Pack] Anker USB-C to Micro USB Adapter, Converts USB Type-C input to Micro USB, Uses 56K Resistor, Works with MacBook, ChromeBook Pixel, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, OnePlus 2 and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AHLKG0...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU5533934

That's fine and dandy, but that simple converter + cable or just the cable alone is one more thing to carry, not forget, and stuff in a pocket. Some of us are used to batteries with built in cables like the Anker Slim, Jackery, or the EasyAcc originally linked.

Regardless of the convenience factor, no battery with a Type A port is gonna charge a Pixel at it's absolute fastest speed (and the charging rapidly message doesn't mean that, the cutoff amps for that message is actually somewhere in the middle).

It's not because the batteries can't, it's that way the spec is designed. In spec A to C cables with a spec compliant Pixel won't so much more than 2-2.2A @ 5V (10W or just over that) whereas with a PD Type C charger or battery it could go up to 15-18W (3A @ 5V or 2A @ 9V when really low).

For now, I've bought a OnePlus micro B to Type C adapter even tho it's most definitely not spec compliant... I actually plan to chuck the thing in the trash as soon as it gets here, I bought it solely for the little keychain silicon holder which I'm hoping will fit my Anker adapters (same one you linked).

That should make it reasonably easy to carry and not forget the adapter (for use with my battery with built in cable), until something better comes along. The OnePlus adapter & silicon holder can be found cheaper elsewhere but I spent a couple more bucks ordering via Amazon because it's easier/quicker and if it doesn't fit my Anker I could return it.
