Scratches on the fingerprint scanner! But from what!?!??

So I've had my phone for a couple days now and it has been in a case 99% of the time and 100% when out and about away from the house. I've been babying this thing so hard And I'm noticing hairline scratches on the back fingerprint scanner.. How is this happening? Can my finger really be scratching the scanner? The case I have on it is pretty bulky and there is definitely a good amount of space separating the scanner from surfaces I may be setting the phone on. Anyone else noticing the same scratches??

Have you removed the thin plastic film that's on there to protect the key in transport?

Thin plastic film? On the fingerprint scanner? It wouldn't be reading my print if it had a piece of plastic on it

Yes actually it can read your print through a thin film of plastic

I have scratches on mine too, but I use the swipe down notification feature. I haven't seen any plastic film on it though.

I use that swipe down gesture also... How can the scanner be getting scratched just from swiping my finger down in it!?

What plastic film? You mean the overall cellophane that the phone was wrapped in when you first take it out of the box? I don't see any film on the fingerprint sensor.
