Fingerprint Scanner Problem

I have been trying to install a fingerprint on my pixel XL but keep getting a message that the fingerprint reader is dirty. I have cleaned it repeatedly but keep getting the same message. Anyone have any ideas as to why and how to fix?

Does this happen before placing a finger on the sensor or during registration? Have you tried using different fingers to see if it recognized them?

It's during registration. And I have tried other fingers. Same thing.

Assuming you're serious, yes I have.

Something is certainly wrong, e.g., for whatever reason the fingerprint reader isn't able to "see" your fingerprint and so it logically "assumes" the reader must be dirty. It sounds like it's time to contact Google for help.
