New Pixel Launcher

Google is working on updating the Pixel Launcher. The G pill has been removed and now a search bar has been placed below the icons in the dock.

I think this looks quite weird, but I also think it is in a much more accessible location. What are your thoughts?

do not like at all. Looks very cluttered in the dock area. I like the streamlined look of the launcher as it is now.

My first thought is that cool, it's more accessible and then my second thought is that it's right next to the button we press for assistant... and since Assistant can search Google... makes me wonder why we have both.

I agree, no thanks. I don't like the pill on the existing launcher, and this does remove it, but I like the search bar even less. Hope it can be removed. I hope what is suggested in the article comes to fruition, where upcoming events, etc. will be displayed with the date, or be optional. This is Android, we like our options haha (and yes I know you have the option of using a different launcher, but still...)

I mean aesthetically having the search bar right where your hand is is nice but it does make the screen look cluttered.

They were also A/B testing a version with the search bar at the top, like it was in previous versions of android. It looks much better than either.

We don't know what the aspect ratio will be yet, until then I will hold my criticism

I agree......the home works just fine for search.

I like it. I'm an oddball that likes the search without Assistant's help.

For now, I tried disabling some GA permissions and not others.

i can agree with that. I just don't like how this looks. I don't like the pill or the search bar.

Just let me take back control of the top two rows of the home screen. I dont need the date up there.
