SMS issues

Hey guys,
For the last 2-3 days my SMS have been behaving strangely.
At random points during the day they just refuse to send any of my texts even though I have full signal.
Sometimes if I switch airplane mode on and off it fixes the problem and they all immediately send.
Any ideas why this is? HTC One M8 on EE.

For some reason the data is hanging. If it continues contact the carrier and verify that the appropriate APNs are set and the device is updated. If it continues, it's either a network issue or you may need to acquire a replacement SIM.

SMS doesn't use data.

I have been having the same issues for about 2 1/2 months.
