Google Sync Error (can't connect to any Google Apps or account)

Hello,

I have a Samsung Galacy S2 Plus (Running 4.1.2) and I have been seeing this "Sync Error" quite frequently. like every week for a day or two and it has been very bothering me. I can't use Play Store, Google+, Gmail and a few other apps with Google account connectivity features.
Can anybody tell me why do I see this? and can this be avoided in the future?

Note: I have not rooted my phone.

It is syncing now, but I know that this error will be back so please do answer my questions.

Well you can't do anything about it. You can only wait till the sync comes back.
I just want to know, why does this happen?
