why am I not able to connect to Google Play.

When I try to connect to Google Play, it says check your connection and try again. I have an Samsung Galaxy 1 the old model with android 2.3.6. My Wi Fi is working. It asks .. redeem, settings and connection , Feedback

Welcome to Android Central! Is this happening on both wi-fi and mobile data? Are you able to connect to other Google services without difficulty?
