How to access google play account from old device?

So I had to buy a new phone as the other one died, so I have no access to the old one. I've logged into my Gmail account on my new device, downloaded all my old games from the play store, which were all saved on there. I've then gone to play and it's asked me to make an ID for Google games... starting them all from scratch. I don't understand how I can access my old google games profile if it's not showing as one being registered to my Google account? Anyone else have this problem or any solutions? Any help much appreciated!

Welcome to Android Central! Did you install the Google Play Games app as well? Open that app and make sure it's signed into your Google account. Then try opening some of your games and see if Google Play Games recognizes them.
