Does it have the T-Mobile 4g bands, or AT&T ?

I have been getting crappy speeds everywhere in NYC. The most I got once was 8mbs down. Even for the G2X 7 is slow for what T-Mobile says is a 21+ mbs service. I don't want to trash T-Mobile because I really do love them, just give me what you advertise or lower my rates.
Attached here are speed results I got in Manhattan on 6th Ave and 19th street. An average of 6.01 down and 1.36 up. What's going on T-mo... Well maybe later I can post the results. Just found out that screen shots from the Galaxy Nexus are saved as PNG files. Unfortunately I can't upload via tapatalk.

Found a little work around. Edited on my phone within the gallery, just cropped the bottom galaxy nexus buttons.

Just did another pathetic speed test. I was on 15th street between 9th and 10th. I averaged .425 down and .846 up. Ridiculous! My pings varied because I changed the host server a couple of times.

I get about 3.5 - 4.5 MBs in Minneapolis with 1 -2 bars of T-Mobile service. I stuck my AT&T SIM in the Nexus and only pulled 1.5 - 2.5 on 4 bars. I never really get 4g speeds on AT&T on the HSPA network, regardless of device, but my Galaxy Note typically does about 3.5 MBs in the same location, so the Nexus doesn't seem quite as fast on AT&T. IMO 3.5 - 4.5 is plenty fast for most everything I need to do mobile with my device, so I'm not complaining, but my VZW Nexus is regularly about 14.5 MBs down, and frequently up around 18 in the same spot, with only 2 bars!

Never had a T-Mobile device that offered 42 MBs HSPA, so can't compare the Nexus to anything like that though.

I am happy and a little disappointed. Another speed test this morning. In a parking lot in Whitestone Queens, NY next to Lincoln Technical institute.

Averaged 7.65 down and 1.5 up. I was extremely pleased when I saw the 10.74mbps down.

I just wish I could get these speeds at home or in more area I am frequently, like all of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Last nights Speed test on west 15th was horrible.

I took this screen the other day when someone was complaining about how ty T-Mobile was and that their speed sucked.

This was inside my condo. I get even faster speeds at work. Also, note that I'm down a bar in the signal strength.

    Hi all,

Just picked up my Gnex in Hong Kong and came over from a BB 9700. I was a fellow Crackberry member but have moved on. I love my Nexus. On Tmo in Boston I am 10 to 13 Mbs Up and 1.7 Down. Still on a grandfathered 19.99 plan with 5gb a month. Love Tmo too!

    Cheers!

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed with the speeds as well. Sometimes they are okay, other times they are dismal.

For example I'll get 5Mbps down and 1.5Mbs up, then the next test it's 0.02Mbps down and "network error" before the test can finish. Also latency is pretty high to extremely high compared to my Vibrant. If I do tests back to back I'll get about 150-200ms latency. First test usually is 1600-1800ms. Seems to be some lag kicking in as it tries to go from 3G to H.

I'm about to switch from my rather expensive almost $80 a month contract plan to the $30 100 minute and 5GB data monthly plan. So for saving almost $50 a month I can put on with the substandard data.

But I did visit a T-Mobile store yesterday. And the employee pulled out his HTC Sensation 4G, with the phones next to each other, his always had more bars and his speeds were a lot more consistent than mine. So I kinda feel the Galaxy Nexus might be a bit finicky about HSPA+.

We also replaced the SIM in my phone, even though the previous one was still fairly new. Also tried the internet2.voicestream.com APN, didn't help either. Maybe an OTA update can improve HSPA+ performance?

On the $30 Walmart plan I average 7mbps down / 3mbps up. My best tests are about 10mbps down / 4mbps up. Very happy with it.
