Default How can I slow battery drain?

The Galaxy Nexus is such a power hog any suggestions on how I can reduce the drain? I've made sure GPS is off and I don't have an active background. Anything else I can try? I loose 30% of battery power when phone is in sleep mode.

If you don't use it, turn off NFC.
Close any apps not being used that maybe updating data in the background.
    Increase interval in between updates

Turning off GPS will have insignificant impact (unless you are USING it in maps etc), turning off WIFI/3G will be significant. Anyway I've recently tried JuiceDefender (free version) and it has helped dramatically so I paid for the "ultimate" version. There are a few issues I need to resolve (likely tweaking its settings) but very happy so far.

The ultimate version does something that Android should have and that is adjustment of the screen brightness while remaining in an automatic mode. All my phones have always been too bright (except outdoors) and I can now adjust it so it is not so bright (and of course save battery that way).

I use Aldiko ebook reader and it had a white background, I have changed to a black background (night mode) as black pixels do not use power.

The phone will give you an idea what is using power overnight, I assume the screen is off so just check first thing in morning which apps have used the juice. It could be something syncing, again JuiceDefender ultimate has a night mode that can turn off the radios overnight.

its under the wifi, bluetooth toggles in settings under the "more" tab. There is a check box besides NFC.

Use the power widget thats built in to control the basic things(bluetooth, GPS, sync, brightness, etc) and I've used a portable charging device to combat the short battery length. (Duracell powerhouse) I've really been pleased with it and can supply more info if you'd like.

here's something worth a try, from Francisco Franco, a kernal dev:

    "
About the battery I want you people to test this: Reboot your phone, then after it booted up open up Camera, then close it. I think we have the same bug as we had on the NS. Google Talk Video version opens the camera during boot and its sensor gets fired up and since the camera isn't closed the sensor just stays there open in the background wasting battery like there was no tomorrow. Opening and closing the Camera after booting up closes the sensor and then the GN enters in Sleep mode just fine (easy to check with Cpu Spy). If more people can confirm my initial testing then we may "have" found one of the possible battery drains when the phone is idle.

I'm going to try this one. I'm curious if it helps battery life at all. Good find!

I have been using the Franco kernel #12 for around a day now with interactive scaling and hotplug enabled through his app, and my battery has improved so far. On the previous ROM setup of AXI0M 2.3 paired with imoseyons 1.2.2 kernel I was getting 16 hours of battery life (browser, text, some call, 3-4 hours of screen use, pandora on 4G, and a mix of 4G and wifi misc. uses). I seem to be getting better battery life out of the codename android and franco kernel combo. All of this is on an extended battery though.

Getting better battery life can only go so far on the stock setup by disabling unused apps, shutting off bluetooth, GPS, 4G etc, and leaving the screen around 20%. If willing installing a custom ROM and kernal would be the optimal choice, but some don't want to go that route. Juice Defender is nice and seemed to help mine till it kept causing the phone to reboot.

I've used Juice Defender (free and plus)...im not sure what the ultimate offers that will make a huge difference that the free and plus don't offer, but the free version is pretty good!!! the main drain for any LTE phone is the LTE connection. I'm not an expert and there may be other things causing major drain, but it seems to me that the LTE connection is the main one...Juice defender is great in that it turns off your LTE and has settings to let it check your accounts every 15 minutes to get updates (email, twitter, etc - fb is messed up right now, dont think thats working properly in a few ways)...actually now that i think about it, the ultimate might have a setting to force enable checking specific accounts, altho i could use a confirmation/correction on this. all and all, Juice defender free - i highly recommend it for battery life...

I've been getting 16 hours of battery life on average lately. This is with G+, wifi and 4g turned on. I had bad battery for a while and finally found the app thst was killing ny battery. It turned out that my exchange account was killing my battery. Once I removed that account my battery significantly improved.

I'm guessing you meant exchange services? I seen that and disabled that....have no idea what it is but it hasn't bricked my phone by disabling it so well see if it makes a difference....wth is that program for anyway? Lol
