Default Has anyone successfully upgraded to ICS 4.0.4?

    Hello All,

I see a lot of support and tips for the GNEX LTE model out there specifically about ICS 4.0.4 but no love for the HSPA+ model.

With that said, I was wondering if anyone has been able to get 4.0.4 on a GSM GNEX successfully.

I'm still on stock 4.0.2 with an unlocked bootloader. When I've seen Nexus S' with 4.0.3 already. What a shame.

    Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

4.0.4 isn't officially out for the LTE version. Not even 4.0.3 is officially out for LTE or GSM. Purely relying on OTAs, all LTE and GSM models are still on 4.0.2.

You're not behind. The 4.0.4 "leak" doesn't really contain anything that helps the GSM model, so theres really no incentive to build custom ROMs around it.

You need to remember that just because its a higher version number doesn't mean that it'd be "better" for your phone to have it. As you noted there are 4.0.3 builds floating around for the Nexus S too. Not every version will come to every device, and not ever device requires the same level of update or fixes.

Also, as far as talk and support, the GSM model isn't sold in the USA. If you're in a USA forum (like this one) you're going to have to expect most of the conversation to be centered around the Verizon LTE model.

Try flashing the Android Open Kang Project, Milestone 3 ROM, which is based on 4.0.3, and you'll never go back stock. It's bliss...

Turns out I posted this thread prematurely last month...

...now to give it a bump.

I still haven't gotten the update OTA even after news is announced.

It has nothing to do with your location or carrier. They roll out based on IMEI.

Either be patient and wait for it, or you can flash the update manually.

Is it really IMEI? Considering that it's the ones updated by google direct with yakju getting the update. I have an international Gnex on Tmo. Sadly though it's yakjuxw not yakju that is on this phone so I like many are not getting it updated. Even though yakju can be placed on here instead of yakjuxw then updated to 4.0.4. The steps can be daunting and personally I don't want to brick this just to get new firmware on it this soon.

So who then will update yakjuxw if not GOGGLE? Samsung? Will we ever get the update then and did I just buy a device that will be perpetually be behind the curve?

Would you kindly cite the source for this claim please? Thank you.

So my phone was originally yakjuxw not yakju, but I flashed a yakju firmware onto my phone so it'd be updated by Google... but I got impatient and just downloaded the 4.0.4 firmware from Google Code and flashed it to my phone myself. Works great except I got a nasty bug where the phone locks up while charging, yet the notification light keeps working. I googled this issue and have seen that others have it on the 4.0.2 firmware also. Seems rare.

So if it's by IMEI, updating my phone to yakju will never get me an update from Google, will it? I guess I'd have had to wait for an update (or no update) to really know...

I finally got the OTA Update a few days ago. I'm just now finally getting around to updating this thread. 4.0.4 FTW!

Go to settings, apps, click on All. Scroll down to Google Framework Services and click on it. Press Force Stop, and then Clear Data. Now settings, phone, check upgrade. May need to do it twice.

After 10 minutes my phone was upgraded.
Makes me wonder why google doesn't clear data automatically in framework services.

Did what was done on AC and XDA. Unlocked the bootloader rooted and flashed the factory images of 4.0.4. All good now and when the next version is out OTA By Google. Now this is how it should have been.

I also updated to 4.04.4 using the info at XDA. Was really easy using ROMmanager. I was surprised. My Nexus is a yakju version, but when I was on 4.0.2 it didn't show any updates available. Not sure if that was because I was previously unlocked and rooted, though.

No issues with 4.0.4 regarding the cell standy like some have reported, but I noticed that my google Maps is constantly saying it's stopped working every 10 seconds, but it seems to be working fine.
