    Default GN and MS Exchange

    Hi All,

I'm having a problem with my exchange email on my dandroid devices.

We are use exchange 2003 (server 2003 sbs) in our office. We don't have an IT department so our services are provided by a 3rd party. I am using a Galaxy Nexus as my wireless deivce...and I love it. The problem I have is the following.

I had been receiving all of my emails, calendar, contacts, etc on my device since January with no problems whatsover, since the first week of January. On March 1 at 9:25am, I stopped receiving any email messages on my device but I get them on my desktop. My outgoing messages, calendar and contacts are all sync'd with exchange, just not the incoming. I have tried to delete the exchange account 3 times on my device and twice on my Xoom and in all cases I get the same result. The message that I get is "couldn't open connection to server" as soon as I get to that last message from March 1 at 9:25am.

I have contacted the IT people that we use and so far other than sending me a billl, they have been of very little help. My outlook folder is about 1.3gb in size. Is it possible that both my tablet and phone are maxed out in terms of the size of data that can be syn'c with exchange? My GN is set to sync all (via push) and my xoom is set to sync 1 month. I dont know what else to look for. I am generally very good with IT stuff but dont this is my first time using exchange. I am a new business owner of an existing company and this this exchnage setup was here when I bought the company.

My long term goal is to handle things differently but in the meantime, I could really use some help in trying to resolve this issue. Please let me know if I need to provide any further details to help troubleshoot this issue.

    Cheers,

    Day 2....

I have once again deleted and then created my exchnage account on my Galaxy Nexus. I still get the same result in that all of my inbox email sync's up until March 1, 2012 at 9:25 am. No issues with contacts, calendar or sent items. just can't get my head around whats going on. Is this a device issue, an exchnage issue, etc. I still keep getting the "couldn't open connection to server" error message. I just dont get why everything was working for 6 weeks and then just suddenly stopped.

    Im very confused.

What third party do you use for the Exchange services? I use Mailstreet and they are very helpful with technical issues.

Try setting the device to only accept up to one month or even just two weeks worth of messages to see what happens. Is SSL enabled properly?

I think the fastest fix may just be to do a hard reset on your nexus and set everything up again from scratch. Hope it works. I battled with my EVO Exchange calendar for a good while until giving up and just using my gmail calendar for everything. It was an Exchange problem for me since it caused a problem with my older WinMo device as well. Could not figure it out even with great IT help.

Just curious, how many days do you have set to sync (Email app > Settings dots > Sync options > Days to sync)? If you have it set to "All," that's most likely too much. Since it's a small phone and not a desktop, I'd set it to sync "Two weeks" or less.

Having the same problem as the OP. I have mine set for two weeks. Or at least I thought I had. I checked my sync options and was set to never. So I set to push. Still no luck. My Xoom is HC so its fine. Maybe this is why no 4.0.4 kinda a big deal.

I have Exchange set to push and to save two weeks. Stock non rooted GNex

I'm thinking some app did this. Do you have AnyDo installed?

Well that was a waste of time. I just did the hard reset and entered my exchange info and. My outgoing messages, calendar and contacts are all sync'd with exchange, but im having the same problem with the incoming. The message that I get is "couldn't open connection to server" as soon as I get to that last message from March 1 at 9:25am.

    Very frustrating.

Farenheit, I havent tried your suggestion yet, but was curious to know what leads you to believe that "all" is too much? I have a 1.3gb data file and have about 8gb of space on my GN. Is there a limitation on the GN?

Its just a hunch really. My email defaulted to 2 weeks and I've never had a problem. If hard resetting didn't fix it, what's the harm in trying 2 week sync?
