I really want to know if it got any improvement with the sound level.

I didn't notice much difference in 4.0.4 from 4.0.2 as far as the volume is concerned.
4.0.2 had a much better volume than 4.0.1 .

Not that I know of, but some people are using from the Play Store to improve the volume. I haven't though so I can't confirm if it works or not.

I use it and it works well but be careful. I don't use more then a +3 boost because I don't want to damage the speaker and I'm not sure how much it can take.

I use +12 and it's perfect. The speaker can handle high volumes - not sure how it was ever decided to keep it so quiet at full volume.

Many apps and Kernels can help with sound. I am going craze using Franco's kernel. The sound hack is SICK!

volume+ definitely improved my sound, actually be careful to use it feels like it can mess up the speaker if i give it to much

I am not using a stock 4.0.4 ROM so that might be why but when both of the ROMs that I'm using upgraded to 4.0.4 I did notice a difference.
