Just got my Galaxy Nexus
Hello everyone. I'm not here often besides reading since I've been a die hard iPhone user and still am. However I just purchased this unlocked galaxy nexus today and wow this phone is amazing. I'm very impressed and with Google voice I'm going to make this my daily driver for a while. The only downfall I have right now is the size because UK used to my smaller iPhone.

I'm an iPhone user thinking about getting a gnex as well. How do you like it so far by comparison

Re: Just got my Galaxy Nexus
My wife and I just got new phones today (April 7, 2012) as well. I got the Gnex, and she got an iPhone 4s (16gig), both on Rogers.
I'm coming from an a featurephone, and before that an ancient Blackberry 8130 (os 4.5). This Gnex is amazing... I'm still learning and figuring stuff out....
And between learning Android, I'm helping her with her iPhone. We've never used Apple much, not even iTunes -- so I'm really gonna be on a learning curve for the next little while!

Re: Just got my Galaxy Nexus
I'm also new to Android, after two years using an iphone...
I've noticed that the Android isn't nearly as stable as the iPhone, but it's far more flexible when it comes to customization.
As for the GNex I like the screen is much larger and easier to read, it's also faster and more responsive then my old iPhone 3Gs. on the downside the camera is very poor.
The battery isn't anything to get excited about... I get about three hours of screen time at max brightness, using 3G/wireless. (Although with 4.0.4 which I haven't revived yet I've read that there's an improvement)
Also I find it wired that there are two versions on the GNex ... one that receives it's updates from Google and another one which receives updates from Samsung. It's not even carrier specific ... although there is a fix for this if you don't mind messing with your phone.
Lastly, I find it very liberating not having to deal with iTunes, is great just to be able to plug in your phone and be able to copy files from my computer to my phone... There is also no need to jailbreak the phone to install "3ed party" apps

I have a 4S now. I already don't use iTunes thanks to iCloud. I am really interested in trying android though. I want Verizon because I don't like AT&T, even though the One X is very appealing. Which is sad because Verizon doesn't seem to be getting a One X-like phone. So the GNex is the best choice. Is the GNex worth it's hype? Thanks for the replies guys/gals. It's greatly appreciated.

Well I'm slowly used to a fire breathing monster phone... as opposed to a feature phone. I'm loving the Gnex, even with the steep learning curve. Can't say if it's better then an iPhone but I do wish it were slightly smaller so it's easier to drop in a pocket. Other then that it's awesome

I'm coming from a Bold 9930, and an iPhone 4. Never liked the Android UI, until ICS. I had the gnex for a week, an I'm falling more and more in love with it. Once you understand how everything works you'll appreciate Android much better. I do feel like a traitor though. Lol..The only thing that kills me is the battery life. It an extended battery makes u complete 10!

Re: Just got my Galaxy Nexus
I'm getting used to the size. I got an otterbox commuter for it, it makes it easier to hang on to (not as slippery) but I like the sleek light feel of it out of the case.
Slowly getting more comfortable with Android ICS, started playing with different launchers and stuff. "Go" is pretty neat stuff. - 04-09-2012, 04:00 PM #10
Re: Just got my Galaxy Nexus
Gnex is big but tolerable. It ain't a Note though...now that is one big mutha of a phone.
One major flaw in the iphone is the screen size. After using the gn how can one even think of using the puny iphone screen. Yah better batt life blah blah, but its a trade off I would do any day.

Re: Just got my Galaxy Nexus
Take iPhone's awesome display, only make it 4-4.3 inches. Keep the luxury feel (aluminum+glass) and look. Amp up the durability and battery life x10. And of course load it with ICS instead of Apple's os. Anyone interested? I know I would be!!!

Coming from someone who started out on a g1 then a few more androids, then went to the iPhone 4 and evo then dropped the evo and went to the 4s now I keep a 4s and a gnex. I was not really excited about android until ICS. Now with the gnex with a custom rom and kernel it is perfect. I have it just as stable as my 4s and a slight bit faster. Both phones are great as I can appreciate the build quality of the apple and the customizability of the gnex. Being able to have both is great and I use them both regularly but now I am slightly leaning towards the gnex. The only thing that might pull me back towards apple is if they add LTE, 4" screen, and NFC other than that I might stick with the gnex for a while.

For me, my carrier doesn't have the maxx. Just the first edition Razr. A friend has one and the first turn off was the feel in hand. I got slightly larger then normal hands with long fingers. The Razr felt too wide for what it is (I'm sure the Maxx feels better because the thickness offsets the wide feeling somewhat). The other thing was the sealed battery. In Canada we're stuffed with 3 years contracts so I also wanted to replace the battery if I needed to. That left the Gnex... and I'm loving it.

I'm actually a fan of the Apple OS and the competition that the platform brings to the consumer smartphone arena. Also I like the foundation it laid for android to thrive. Anyone who doesn't think android was influenced by the apple OS would just be being a blinf fanboy

I had an iPhone 4s, HTC one x and now the gnex and I must say the gnex is so smooth and a breath of fresh air. Stock Android is really a treat and companies shouldn't ruin it.coming from a couple of different Android phones I never enjoyed it until I touched the gnex. Battery life is extremely good on stock battery possibly due to my ROM and kernel combo plus power saving mode. Started the day at 70% and it's been lasting for 17 hours with about 2 and change screen on time. Easily can get 4 with 100%.
I will only buy Google nexus phones here on out. Yea I miss my iPhone but I have an iPad so it's really not a huge loss. Best of both worlds.
