Unlocked GNex direct from Google not connecting to AT&T
Ordered my GSM GNex from google directly and got it yesterday. Went down to AT&T to get a sim activated it my phone would not connect to ATT's network. I had them swap IMEI's and data plans on the account, tried various different APN's from xda/various android websites. Restored the phone to factory twice. Went to another AT&T store and got another sim card. No matter what I tried, it just wouldn't work.
Called google and as it stands I asked for a refund. I really want to give the device another shot though and think I'm going to ask them to mail me a replacement. What do I need to know in advance this time around to make sure it works? I have a decent background in technology.
Can someone also post a picture of there sim tray with no sim? I wonder if something is broken there.
Thank you in advance! - 04-28-2012, 08:20 AM #2
Re: Unlocked GNex direct from Google not connecting to AT&T
Did you make sure the correct APN was entered? 3 of my last 4 devices the APN had to be manually entered to be able to connect to AT&T server's (including my GSM GNEX back in November). One phone even came from AT&T directly and had the wrong Access Point programed in!

Re: Unlocked GNex direct from Google not connecting to AT&T
I did the same thing the other day went to several AT&T corporate stores then called into AT&T's Enterprise help desk. The GNex, according to AT&T is an unsupported phone. In my case I was trying to convert the line my Skyrocket was using to the GNex. I somewhat gave up and told them to revert my line back to a 4G LTE plan because the profiles for the HSPA SGSII and Infuse where useless. In the end this profile fit me the best and I just manually entered the APN settings to get my GNex to work using the Skyrocket as a placeholder. Albeit tethering is the only one that is left useless, I am on the 5GB w/ tethering plan but I digress. Haven't cared to root my phone but, bootloader is unlocked and on the takju build.

My unlocked Galaxy Nexus arrived from Google and I went to AT&T, popped in the SIM and it worked without issue.
