After switching through all of the ones on the phone and using "Beautiful Weather"(from the Beautiful Widget) I settled on Nexus(Neural Network). It just seems right.

Solid black for me to. I believe that using vibrant or bright backgrounds consume more battery. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Absolutely, but my battery still makes it though the day with heavy usage.

The horizon wallpaper that is the default on the HTC One X. I was using the phase beam live wallpaper for a while.

I just love it its dark but has vibrant colours. It come on the device not seen a port on market yet and it's very addictive feeding the digital organisms just to see how infested you can get your screen.
Sorry but if your using a black wallpaper to save battery then for God sake go buy a spare battery I got a 1900mhz battery from Ebay with nfc and anti over charge for £3 with free postage & packaging and it's not let me down yet got my original as a swap out and dont even notice I'm carrying it.

Likewise. I switch between this and the black background, mainly using the former since it's easier to see open folder borders with some color in the background.
