Should I sell my HOX to get the GSM GNex?
I've had my HOX for a couple weeks now and it's a decent phone. Design is beautiful, camera is great, screen is amazing and battery life isn't bad. The downfall is some of the bugs and the update time from HTC.
I previously had a GNex on Verizon, but they totally botched that one with all the LTE issues.
I've read good things about the unlocked GNex. So, should I sell my HOX for a Gnex even though its a 1 year old phone already? I'm all for being on the cutting edge of Android software releases and I enjoy the pure experience.
Also, will AT&T's insurance cover the GNex or would I need to seek third party insurance? - 07-09-2012, 11:14 AM #2
Re: Should I sell my HOX to get the GSM GNex?
I have the HOX and just bought a GSM GNex from a Google I/O attendee last week on ebay that came 4.1 ready (OTA download upon activation) and I absolutely love it. While I love the design and screen of the HOX it will be hard to go back to it after having the Nexus and Jelly Bean. I too had the Verizon GNex and was sorely disappointed from battery life, reception, bugs, updates or lack thereof, etc., but the GSM version really is a breath of fresh air compared to the Verizon GNex. Despite a smaller battery I'm seeing much better battery life which is to be expected since it is not an LTE device, but the reception is much better as well which also doesn't hurt. I'm still going to go ahead and buy the 2000 mah extended battery to get a little more juice. I say go for it if you can live without the camera and screen of the HOX. I find the Nexus camera to be adequate enough, the screen to be beautiful even if not as nice as the SLCD2 on the HOX, and HSPA + speeds to be fast enough although I do miss the speeds of the HOX.

I had the HTC One X for most of last week. It was somewhat laggy with the sense ui. I returned it on Saturday and placed an order on google play that day. Hopefully it comes soon! I hate waiting lol

I love my GSM Nexus. The camera really isn't that different despite what others say. If you do decide to sell you HOX I'd be interested in it for my niece. She for some reason loves sense and is young enough not to care about updates directly from El Goog unlike the rest of us!

Think about this, the editor of this site said on the podcast that he was switching back to the GNex w/JB.
And he wrote approximately eleventy articles about how great Sense was....and the screen quality of the One X. And then there's the full-on world beating specs of the SGIII. Still GNex.
I will never buy a carrier attached phone again. - 07-09-2012, 02:55 PM #6
Re: Should I sell my HOX to get the GSM GNex?
I did.
I sold the One X and got the Nexus 10 days ago. I did have a GNex for 4 months before switching back and forth last month to the One X. The One X is great, camera is fantastic, so is the screen. BUT, Jelly Bean is SO good, that it doesn't really matter. The camera on the GNex isn't great, but in good lighting it delivers good performance. - 07-09-2012, 08:58 PM #7Current Phone: HTC One X & Galaxy Note GT-N7000
