1)
Go to ?Settings? > ?Apps? and select the ?All? tab
2)
Scroll down to ?Google Service Framework? and first ?Clear data?
3)
Then, ?Force Stop? the application (order is important)
4)
Go back then From ?Settings? scroll down to the bottom to ?About Phone?
5)
Select it and then select ?System Update?
6)
Jelly Bean update then starts - If it doesn't start then repeat staps 1 to 5. It will eventually update so just bear with it.

Please note: I was a bit leary and thought I would certainly screw something up at first but --- It worked like a charm and I didn't have to go throgh the much longer and harder MANUAL DOWNLOADED UPDATE. So to avoid the longer route use my OTA update procedure.
There you are!

This is only true if you have a yakju/takju device and just for some reason haven't received the OTA yet, which started rolling over a week ago.

All other variants (yakjujp, yakjuxw, etc.) haven't even started receiving the OTA, so no matter what you do, you can't get it. If you're interested in the update and have one of these models, you have to switch to takju yet.

I have an older Nexus S (9020A) and this isn't working for me. Stuck on 4.0.4 ... I've gone through this multiple times. Is there a step that everyone else would see as obvious that might not be to someone less expert? Help please?
