Back when I was more interested in rooting and ROMing my device, I thought I absolutely had to have battery % in my status bar. I realized eventually I spent more time (and therefore battery) worrying about my % rather than just using my device. Removing % from the status bar actually improved my battery life overall.
So overall I'm sure it'd be nice to have for those who want it, but I'm pretty happy with a bar that shows 100%, 90%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 15% and 5% levels. If you can glean that much detail from the stock battery icon, you are much better than me sir.
