Left iPhone 4 for Galaxy Nexus. Please help with this battery
The screen shots say it all. I have seen posts with much better stats. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have 4G? Also, putting your screen on auto brightness helps a bit. The screen is always chews up the battery. My record so far is this:

Hmm, that's weird. If you've tried everything and still only pulling 6 hours... it might just be a bad battery its self.

Well, I won't say I've tried everything but I have followed a lot of tips and tricks. That is why I posted.
What about the multitasking? Should I be closing those apps out often? - 07-28-2012, 03:26 PM #8
Honestly, from my android experience of 3+ years, auto brightness kills the battery faster... Uses sensor, turns brightness up. I keep mine on a minimum.
Widgets that refresh constantly or apps in the bg are usually culprits of a bad battery life...

There are things u can just like with every single android phone made. Check brightness, screen timeout, live wallpapers, and syncing apps like Facebook gmail flipboard. How much screen on time did u get? That's a better way to tell then to look at just the overall time of the phone being on. Sometimes I get 3hrs of screen on time in 6 hours and my phone is almost dead. Other times it takes me 12 hours to get 3hrs of screen on time and its almost dead. So far these are my best times. I usually hit about 3hrs of screen on time in 8 hours so the phone needs a charge.also some peoples numbers are misleading. If I charged my phone to 100% right before I slept then left it off the charger on all night it only uses around 5% battery so I'd wake up and look like I have awesome battery life with 8hrs on and only 5% gone. So it just all depends

That seems about right I usually get around 3hours of screen on time when I'm on 3g only. With the iPhone I could get around 4-4.5 hours on screen on 3g. Just depends some ppl like the advantages the iPhone have some dont. And its really not that big of a deal if u don't root/ROM. Only thing I missed on iPhone was the free music downloads and widgets and screen is to small.

Ok, thanks for saying that is normal. And I agree the iPhone screen is too small. Hopefully the next one will be bigger. Even though the rumors are for a longer screen not wider...which is weird but we will see.
Edit: Also, the only widget I am finding useful is the Bobclock d3 widget. The others I have are kind of take it or leave it. The Widgets aren't that helpful if they can't be allowed to show real time data because of battery life. So that defeats the purpose of the widget.Last edited by thejuiceman236; 07-28-2012 at 11:19 PM.

Re: Left iPhone 4 for Galaxy Nexus. Please help with this battery
I've had the gnex for about 6 months and had the og desire before.
What I've found is that you don't really need to turn synching off, although having it any less than 30 minutes is probably bad for your health.
Auto Brightness is all well and good but if you're inside at work or home then it'll adjust it to low levels anyway.
What i've done that lets me get ~2hrs screentime into about ~16 hours battery life on the stock battery:
1) all syncs are at least an hour apart
2) I run Locale with which i've set up multiple profiles for my phone that branch out into other apps APNDroid (and also Astrid, but that's not important right now)
3) i've set my phone to always have wifi on in order that google now knows my presence better, as well as having locational data on.
4) Locale profiles:
- default is 3g on, bt off, auto-brightness, 30 second display sleep, wifi on, ring volume full
- headphones changes the media volume to 50% when inserted and launches beyondpod
- work = 10% brightmess, 30 sec sleep, 3g on, media volume 0, ring volune 50
- Offline on desk - at work, during work hours, whilst facing up, my phone turns off the internet, the bt, the wifi. This puts the phone in an almost inert state that a) lets me work and b) stops me activating the screen on any notifications.
- Under 10% my profiles kill off anything data related, even wifi, in order that i can pick/make emergency calls for the next hour or two.
5) it's the screen that uses the power much more than anything else.
This allows me enough time & battery to enjoy the trips to work, the loo (phone goes back online when i pick it up) whilst not worrying about running out of call-battery. - 08-03-2012, 09:39 PM #22
