My non-rooted, stock GSM Nexus freezes when making calls from links in other apps like GMail or the messaging app. If you click on a phone number link, the phone app opens with the number entered, but a call does not begin and no other buttons work except for the home button. Closing and re-opening the app does nothing. Only a phone reboot will make the phone app operational again. Any suggestions?

try clearing the data and cache for "Phone" and "Phone/messaging Storage" app in Settings-->App-->All App-->

Note: you will lose the message data and recent call history.
