    Default Best software keyboard?

Do you guys have any suggestions for good software keyboards for cm7 to install? I kind of hate the standard one since it's built for a phone. The webOS one was great. I basically want it bigger and better suited for a tablet (like moving the backspace up to the top and adding a row for number keys). Any suggestions?

I use thumb keyboard for my nook color with cm7, it works great. It was free awhile ago, I think it might be a few bucks now, but its well worth it. It has some built in themes which are pretty nice. Basically the keyboard is split into 2 parts, one for each thumb on each side of the screen. There are several different layouts. Keys can be resized, respaced, and repositioned. Its pretty much the greatest keyboard out there.

Thumb keyboard works fine on my T-Pad, it's very customisable with different skins and can even be resized for whatever you find most comfortable.

I personally like the slideIT keyboard, which is similar to Swype.

Count Me in as a fan of thumbkeyboard. I love having numbers and punctuation all on the page at the same time!

I like the Hacker's Keyboard (free). It's the full keyboard - number row keys, cursor keys, etc!

Yeah I just can't find anything even close to as good as the WebOS one. I guess it's good that I just use android for Netflix and a couple games. I feel like WebOS does everything else way better.

I've tried all the ones listed so far, and the A.I. type and Hacker's are my favorites in terms of functionality. They both have number keys, an arrow pad, and all the symbols needed to survive. My qualm with A.I. type is that it's a little laggy, and the arrows select the text instead of moving the cursor around (which is fine if you only use the tracking ball to move the cursor anyways).

The only thing I can nitpick about Hacker's is that the keys feel a little squished... but that can't be helped. Remember to install the English suggestions pack for it, and then reboot the tp before using.

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. We keep improving the performance, but on some combinations of device+OS version+location+?, it is sometimes laggy. We'll be happy to get some details (support-at-aitype-dot-com).

As for selecting the text instead of moving: we are working to solve this issue, but a workaround is to press shift before entering the Text Utilities layout. It will toggle the text selection of the arrows.

    Happy New Year, everybody!

Just installed Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard. Fairly similar to the stock Android but bigger keys, better responsiveness and other improvements.

Not perfect but worth a look.

It's an app in the market place 'Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard Free' so you can find screenshots there.

Runs fine on CM7 3.5 which I think is Android 2.3.
