Screen repeatedly turning on in pocket

Last week the screen turned on in my pocket a couple of times. I would notice when it got hotter than normal and could turn it off. The past couple of days it's happened 5-10 times a day and I haven't noticed it as quickly because it's been hot outside. Today my phone died at 4pm because it kept turning on and draining the battery. I've turned off all the motion gestures and it's still happening.

Anyone have a suggesting for determining the cause? I know on a pc I can check the last wake event, but I don't know if that's possible on a phone.

For reference (in case it matters), I don't have a case, I'm a guy, and I carry the phone in the front left pocket of my pants. I also use Smart Lock linked to my watch.

Thanks!

I am not clear about your scenario . There are two different issues now a days people are facing the first one is your devices display get turn on and turn off automatically . The reason behind this issue is "proximity sensor" . You might be using low quality or not properly fitted screen guard on your device . In that case I Will suggest you to remove that screen guard and check . your issue is resolved or not .

Second issue is device turn on turn off , In that case I will suggest you Start with a soft reset, then make sure the battery is snug, and last check your applications. Although these phones are usually have solid as far as Operating Systems go, and the main reason behind any issue is a bad application . Try and think back to when this issue first started happening. Uninstall any applications that you might have downloaded, or updated, around that time

I dont know, I had this with this phone and with my M7 also. When I put the phone screen against my leg in my pants pocket the heat from my leg activates the screen. The M7 not so much but the 10 a lot. I dont like lock screens but I put it on just so that my leg doesnt accidentally text my grandma my porn LOL. I then kept feeling the fingerprint sensor vibrate in my pocket over and over as it sensed my leg and ate the battery. Finally, to resolve the issue I had to put the phone in my pocket screen facing out (which of course is more prone to damage and doesnt fit as well against leg in pocket). I found this happened more in a suit (thinner pockets) thank with jeans. FYI, no screen protector.

I always go screen-out, meaning, have the screen facing away from your leg when it's in your pants. I found it necessary after my old phone group emailed some of my customers a bunch of garble.

Re: Screen repeatedly unlocking, opening websites/apps when in pocket.

In my case I found the problem to be related to a Smart Lock Setting. If you have a heath band such as a Fitbit that connects to your phone via bluetooth the connection may be keeping your phone from locking. Smart Lock Settings are found by going into the Quick Settings, Lock screen and security, Secure lock settings, Smart Lock. Enter your screen unlock passcode and look under trusted devices (also trusted location). If you have your Fitbit or other health band listed as a trusted device remove it from the list. Since if your health band is in the vicinity of the phone while it's in your pocket it keeps the screen from going into lock mode. So remove any other trusted device or location where you may want to make sure your phone's screen is locked when it's not in use.

@DoyleHT: I did have this problem with my SGs7 few mos. ago
I used to carry the phone on the left-Front pocket..one of my
theory is that--Was the AoD=AlwaysOnDisplay feature
that is ON 24/7 it cooperate to Turns on the phone

And then, with the movement of my leg the icons get Activated.
There was a time that Found an app downloaded, without
move a finger-Hehe!..Solved the issue by buying myself
a Holster-Belt clip: Noo More Screen activation

I have this problem all the time, maybe 1-2 times per day. I have a passcode enabled and I'll pull the phone out of my pocket and it will have tried the code 5 times and stops on the pattern screen. I've had to turn the cameras gesture off, I've had a pile of pictures of the inside of my pocket. Pretty irritating. Glove mode is off, no Smart Lock setting enabled and I carry with screen in to protect the screen.

My Nokia 8 has the same problem of screen turning itself on. I went to settings display advanced and then turn off tap to wake. This worked for me
