Google Assistant update?

[AC Question]

I believe I received the google play services update the day or two after it was announced, however, I have not seen any difference in my Google Now app. long-pressing the home button still opens the app, not the assistant. Is there a way to tell for sure if the update I got should have been Assistant? HTC 10, Unlocked (from HTC website) running Android N on the T-mobile network in the Mid-Atlantic.

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Google app, tap Menu>Settings, and see if there's an option for Google Assistant. If there is, make sure you enable it.

Hi, assistant working okay with me. Long press on fingerprint scanner opens up assistant, or saying "okay Google"

Mine has been working for a few weeks. I have a verizon 10. Before assistant, my phone would react to OK Google while charging. It no longer does. It has a harder time recognizing my voice now. It used to work in my car while using Waze or Maps. It no longer does. Home and Google Now worked together. Now my phone displays answering on another device, sometimes when I am not even at home.

Assistant for me broke what was good. Dont be in such a hurry to get it

Assistant showed up on my phone just before a recent trip to New Orleans. I'm glad it did. It made getting around the French Quarter way more convenient (as in getting the answers I needed without putting my drink down).

Just got GA on my 10 a couple days ago. It popped up on my U11 shortly after I got everything set up.

Lol I can't win, just got Google assistant, I don't like it and also seems to drain more of the battery than Google Now, I rolled back to the old one, thanks anyways.
