I am using a HTC Desire 626 on Android version 5.1 - When I use the mail app it's constantly showing the error "Unfortunately, mail has stopped" when I type in the subject line or body of the email.

I've seen on various forums that uninstalling the Android System WebView from the application manager is a fix for this however I don't have the option to uninstall, only Force stop or Disable.

Can anyone please help?

Welcome to Android Central! First, go to Settings>Apps>All, select Mail, and Clear Cache, then Force Stop. Now open it again and see if the problem persists. If it does, then also try removing each email account, and then adding them back.

If there is no option to Uninstall Updates for Android System Webview, then maybe you have to update it. Go to the Play Store and search for Android System Webview. Tap Update if available.
