My HTC Desire 816 keeps turning itself on and off, how can I stop this?

My HTC Desire 816 keeps turning itself on and off

I was using the phone as normal this morning and all of a sudden it keeps freezing and turning itself on and off. I have tried rebooting, tried to do a back up and reset factory reset but the phone keeps turning itself off and on about every minute or so

Plug the charger in and let it charge for a few hours. Then look at Settings/Battery. Tap the graph at the top and look at the new graph for a sharp drop to zero. If you see hat, the battery needs replacement.

The phone has been on charge for most of the day. I can't get into the settings to check on anything as it freezes and then starts to switch itself on and off
