    Default Europe Only?

    Hey everyone, I was just wondering if there are any rumors of this guy hitting the U.S. I would think the answer would be no, since I'm sure Sprint wouldn't like the idea of a phone very similar to the EVO competing in their space, but what do you guys think? Any chance it will end up on AT&T or maybe T-Mobile?

    they would be stupid not to.. but the desire was europe only for awhile, but that had n1 as a counterpart so it probably wouldn't have been super strong state side...

    From what I understand, it could be coming to T-Mobile under a different name.

    Instead of the HTC EVO the HTC Desire HD, wich would be understandble (sort of). But making it an Tmobile exclusive would be stupid, everyone was excited about the HTC Desire (I possess one :P) and in my opinion the phone isn't finished, the rumored not-yet-announced-phone is.

    When the N1 was only avail with a subsidy on T-mobile which is the fourth largest carrier and only online. No releasing the Desire on the US with a subsidy would have sold very well. Most smartphones in the US are sold not sold off contract. If you really want to know how well the Desire would have sold had AT&T picked it up look at what happened with the Incredible. Was it not for shortages it could have been one of the best selling phones on Verizon. And even with them it will be near the top for the year I am sure.

    Even with supply issues the DInc has been one of the top selling phones on Verizon. I believe it was the 2nd best selling Android phone in the US in Q2, behind the Moto Droid.
    crap -> Droid Incredible (4/29/10) -> HTC Thunderbolt (4/9/11) -> Samsung Galaxy Nexus (4/1/2012)

    Telus in Canada just got the original Desire. Now that all four major carriers here are GSM I hope we'll start to see more of the European phones make it up here.

    Good for Americans too if they want to buy contract free and unlock.

    I wouldn't be surprised to see the Desire HD make to Canada, but probably not in timely fashion.

    As long as I can buy this phone unlocked and it works on AT&T's 3G frequencies I'll be happy.

    If it comes out for any Canadian carrier the frequency should be good. Unlocked may or may not be an issue.

    Default So...

    The Desire HD was just announced today and none of the site i've seen it on have listed the Radio specs... i have to admit i'm at work so i didn't do an exhaustive search, but since this thing is GSM does it have AT&T 3G bands??? Would i be able to buy one unlocked and use it fully on AT&T's network, 3G the whole 9-yards?

    Yup I don't think it'll come to Canada, I was looking at the specs page and the network bands don't match Canada's.

    Does this apply to the Desire Z as well? Everything I've read so far gives me the idea that only the Desire HD doesn't have the correct network bands.

    It doesn't. I've read on Gizmodo that it was going to be launched in North America soon. Let's just hope it works for both T-Mobile an AT&T and that it ISN'T the myTouch HD. Making a gorgeous aluminum phone now have a plastic exterior is aweful.
