dude seriously if you need a phone for camping buy a nokia or something this isnt the one for that mine is a power hog and turning it on seems to chew more then a little power in and of its self. not only that but it just isnt that good and reception so I would be concerned about it being usefull if it was needed in an emergency situation.

    Hello,

I registered to let you know, that the Desire battery can last very long (300+ hours) all you need to do (especially if camping) turn screen brightness to 2nd highest, turn OFF wifi / blutooth / GPS (When not in use) and simply have the phone standby in 3G mode (turn off phone network too if you won't be using it)

I had the thing run for days on end this way, an the alarm clock will be fine for you this way )

Very well said It shouldnt take a genius to work out if you turn stuff of it uses less battery power, killing apps that are sitting in the background also aids your battery. or alternativly buy 2 or 3 extra batteries charge them and take them with you there not exactly big or expencive as they can be picked up for as little as £8.

As others have suggested you can get fantastic life if you turn everything off, you can have spare batteries and if you are camping, all the aftermarket solar chargers, power packs etc work too.

As far as I know this is not possible with today's smartphones, well most of them anyway.

Funny enough this was possible with older feature phones. I had some Sony Ericsson's back in the day which handled this like a charm!
