I have a question. When will the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread be on the HTC Desire?!!!!

I got it on a ROM, and it is amazing! Stable for everyday use, and the only thing that doesn't work is video recording!

I think we're all thinking that. I absolutely can't wait for it. It seems like Android Central is posting pretty frequently about it, but the articles aren't really showing many results. I've heard that it will come out the beginning of May (but that's just a rumor). We can only hope...

Get cyanogenmod. With CM7 you will get Gingerbread on your desire. If you install the latest nightly you will even get 2.3.4.

the only thing i don't like about cyanogen mod roms is that there is no epst settings. I can't provision the phone to work for different cdma service providers. I wonder if they will ever fix that.

It turns out that some Desires on UK carriers got the update. None in America, yet.

Either root and install a custom ROM, or you can wait til the end of the year when every carrier does its "testing" of gingerbread. It's been released by HTC for the Desire, now its all on the carriers.

Going to update this, dorry for bumping an old thread. HTC did it where you have to manually update it but it wipes everything off the phone.
