Rooted Eris won't load July OTA

I have an Eris running a rooted stock 2.1. The July OTA tried to load into my phone, but I received an error stating that the update file did not have the correct signatures.

I tried doing a manual update using the file published by Google. Same result.

How do I get the July OTA onto my phone? Or should I simply punt and go to a third-party ROM, such as Evil Eris 3.0?

If you are rooted, I'd just wait for a ROM that includes the functionality. Actually, there already is one - it has all of the updates included in the latest OTA.

Rooted ROMs will disable the ability to apply the OTA by design. The OTA is a series of patches run by script that are expecting to find certain files that a rooted ROM will have changed or eliminated. You really don't want to run the OTA on anything other than the official 2.1 OTA (or leak v3).
