the good thing is, ANY phone can be broken, almost any significant phone has been. nothing is unhackable... dont be surprised if someone already has the eris broken/rooted already but is keeping it quiet to see if the hole is left open in the Eris 2.x update. Then when 2.x comes out, the flood starts and from the first quarter the eris gets announced as finally being rooted.
the company I work for has its fingers in the OEM market, and a few engineers have told me any android phone breakable, it is just taking the time to read all the code and see where the "holes" are (yes thats plural).
