Is this for the HTC Droid Eris? If so, how do we get this update? I went in to the settings - about phone - system updates but it tells me that I'm already up to date

It is starting to roll out. It may be a few days before all Eris owners get the update pushed to their devices. There is a good chance you will be able to do it manually by tomorrow similar to how the Moto Droid 2.0.1 was leaked.

Extract to your PC, plug in your Eris and run the tool. The rest is automagic

The phone tells you it's going to update and asks you to continue. If you haven't seen this, you haven't got it yet.
@xliderider - no problem. And I agree, HTC makes everything pretty easy. Probably cuts down of the support questions a lot.(•‿•) - 12-10-2009, 02:21 PM #15a little obsessive...

Thanks, I just want to be clear this file is from VZW?
- 12-10-2009, 02:33 PM #17
thanks for the link !!

No, this file is from HTC. They sent it to VZW for testing and rollout to their stores. I can't say it's 100% Verizon approved, because it isn't
they will probably try to get it removed, simply so they have some sort of control of it's distribution.
It's signed by HTC's security keys, which at this time are impossible to crack, or it wouldn't run on your phone.

Is it normal to loose all settings?
- 12-10-2009, 03:21 PM #21
Is that a legit update? I don't wanna install it and it not be the same update everyone else will automatically get later. I might just wait.. Seems fishy or something..
- 12-10-2009, 04:03 PM #22
Updating this way (RUU) it's normal to lose your settings. I have no idea if the OTA version overwrites, as I have no access to it. yet.

@adrenalinerush12 this update comes direct from HTC, which is verified by their private signing keys. All updates get posted to the web in this manner, it's up to the carriers to remove them if they would like to control its distribution(•‿•) - 12-10-2009, 04:18 PM #23
So it looks like my 1X-3G locking/connection issue is better, but it is totally not gone. Any ideas?

Thank! Just did the upgrade. I'll let you know my findings (if any). By the way, I'm still looking for a way to boost the incoming call volume as I find mine to be very low. I've heard mention of having to "root" my device and install "Louder Volume" but I'm not sure if this will solve my problem. Any suggestions?

The update for the Moto Droid was only 10 MB.
