HTC Sync & Linux (host program) with Secondary Program Windows xp

Hey there:

Tried several times to find a programme compatible with Linux for HTC Sync. It wil not recognize my phone at all. I've even downloaded it in Virtual machine (Windows XP) and still isn't even recognized. Any help is appreciated.

Also, on the Incredible S how do you access outlook Calendar (without syncing to the computer). Thanks.
