[NOTE]Hey all, this is a HOW TO for all you out there that are ready to take controll of your EVO 3D!
First off.. I did NOT create any of this. This is just HOW TO.
REQUIREMENTS : You MUST have the HTC drivers installed and HTC Sync UNINSTALLED for this to work.
YOU MUST BE HBOOT 1.3 or 1.4. If you have the most recent update of 1.5 you need to unlock via HTC.
A BIG THANKS TO UNREVOKED AND ALPHA REV![/NOTE]
INFORMATION:
HOW TO GET S-OFF
1. Go to [Only registered users can view links. ] and select your PC type... This will start the download of the Revolutionary.zip
2. Next is to apply for a Beta Key, this is NOT AN OPTION. You will need your HBOOT version number ie. 1.30 or 1.40, as well as your Serial Number. The serial Number is printed on your EVO under the battery.
3. Boot up your 3D and make sure USB Debugging is ON. Now you can connect your 3D via USB. Make sure its in Charge Only Mode.
4. Extract the downloaded ZIP and run the file "revolutionary"
5. It will prompt you for your beta key.
6. Once this is done it will go thru automated scripts and reboot your phone about 3-4 times before you finally are done.
S-OFF, Android SDK, HTC Drivers Installed and HTC SYNC UNINSTALLED
First make sure you have the requirements before starting.[/NOTE]
INFORMATION:
HOW TO INSTALL RECOVERY:
Method #1 - Install via Android SDK
Download the Recovery image:[Only registered users can view links. ]
Open a command prompt and change the directory to where you have your "sdk\tools" folder installed.
For me it looks like this... C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\
Place the downloaded image file into the same directory.
Reboot phone into Bootloader. "Vol Down + Power"
Select Fastboot
Once your phone is in Fastboot mode run this command from the command prompt.
"fastboot flash recovery C:\android-sdk-windows\tools\recovery-twrp-shooter-1.0.0.img" - WITHOUT THE QUOTATIONS.
Once it completes tell the Bootloader to Reboot phone.
TADA! Now you have a working Recovery!
Method #2 - Install via HBOOT
Download: [Only registered users can view links. ]
This is the fastest way to get TWRP recovery on your phone. You will still need to have S-OFF to achieve recovery.
You will find above a ZIP labeled "RECOVERY.zip"
Download this file and extract it to you desktop, or wherever you would like.
This will extract the "PG86IMG.zip" file.
Note: This is the recovery image and NOT the stock image that is available to flash via HBOOT as well...
Take the PG86IMG.zip file and place it in the ROOT of your SD Card.
Now all you need to do is Turn your phone off and boot into HBOOT mode ( Vol Down+Power )
From there the phone will recognize the zip as an update zip and ask you if you would like to flash it.
Allow the flash of the recovery and then boot back up into your OS.
From here you will either want to DELETE the zip off of your phone or move it to a folder on your phone labeled recovery via hboot, or something to that affect. The reason for this is that if you do not, everytime you try to boot into recovery you will not be able to because it see's the PG86IMG.zip and automatically runs the script to update. Once this is removed you are good to go and can reboot into Recovery and make a backup.
[WARN]BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE....
Reboot into Bootloader and choose Recovery.
MAKE A BACKUP!
Now you are good to go! Next is root...[/WARN]
INFORMATION:
PERMA-ROOT
For root you need to flash this .zip
Download here: [Only registered users can view links. ]
In order to achieve root..
Download the su.zip and copy the zip file to the ROOT of your SDCARD.
Boot into Recovery
Choose "Install Zip"
Then "Choose Zip To Flash"
Then select the "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip"
Once it completes, reboot and you now have ROOT access!
Revolutionary worked like a charm for the S-Off, but it did not flash ClockworkMod successfully (said it did, but I cannot boot to recovery at all now, it just reboots to the Sprint logo and boots the rest of the way up.) Does anyone happen to have the CWM file that it downloads? It's not available in Rom Manager yet. Much appreciated if anyone has any ideas, thanks!

Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. Try again.
Press (almost) any key to exit.
Check your USB cable.. also there is now a sticky for this. Also make sure USB debugging is on and fastboot is off
USB cable is fine, as it finds the device just fine.. How do i know if fastboot is off? I have the phone on and at the home screen, plugged USB cable in. USB debugging is turned ON.. ran the exe and keep getting the above when i try to run it after putting in my beta key.

Fastboot Setting is under Settings-> Power -> Fast boot
Mine actually worked with it on (I forgot to check for it). I had to uninstall HTC sync though.
