Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
Did the S-Off/Root for my Evo 3D but didn't install a custom ROM. I've noticed though that when I press and hold the power button and then select the "Restart" option, the phone powers down but does not restart. I have to press the power button again to get the phone to boot back up. Anyone else notice this (did a search and didn't see it mentioned) and if so, any known fix for it?

Re: Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
I am rooted on stock and just tested because I normally use Quick Boot. Mine will restart using the power button option. Not sure why yours won't, maybe someone else can shed some light on that. Fwiw I have TWRP instead of Clockwork. May or may not be a factor. Anyway, in the meantime you can try Quick Boot, which will give you the options to reboot, recovery, go to bootloader, or power off. Of course, I also know how to manually get to the bootloader just in case I have an issue where I can't get my phone up, but use Quick Boot for convenience.
Please thank me if I have helped!

Re: Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
That HAS to be it... otherwise its EMULATES the process.. does a soft power off.. Turn Fast Boot off and you will be fine.

Re: Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
Tried turning fast boot off (removed the check mark) and selecting the restart option from the power button menu still only results in a power down, no reboot. Using the Quick Boot app I am able to to do a soft reset/restart though. I do have Clockwork Mod installed instead of TWRP, maybe that could be it?

Is there any way to replace Clockwork Mod with TWRP?

Re: Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
Have not tried flashing the 4-in-1 reboot mod. I saw some people were using it on Senseless ROMs but wasn't sure about if it was safe to use on stock rooted? Also, I found the zip but still rather new to the rooting/ROM community and wasn't sure how to install it. Place it on the SD card then boot into Clockwork mod? Then what? Sorry for the newb questions.

Wow, I wasn't expecting someone to make a custom fix for me but definitely appreciate the effort. Before applying the fix, can I ask if you were ever able to replicate the issue? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what technical/specific changes does this file make in order to fix the reboot issue I am experiencing?

Re: Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
In my first note in prior post I said did not try rebooting before I applied the fix so by absence of testing I was not able to replicate your issue. I just plain forgot to do it, lol.
But I can confidently say that after applying this fix it rebooted just fine.
This replaces the current android.policy.jar file in \system\framework\
Make sure you have a back up before applying... This fix will not ruin your phone in any way but it could cause it not to boot (highly unlikely) all the way hence the need for a back up. BUT, I trust my work.. The back up is just a precaution. Sometimes things dont always work they way they do on all phones.
But give it a try.. I need to head to bed soon.
EDIT: And if this doesnt fix it for you I will look again tomorrow... I had to return to 100% stock then reinstall recovery and SU, etc. Im not down with doing it again tonight, lol. - 08-14-2011, 03:52 AM

Re: Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
Thanks again for all of the effort, can't begin to describe how appreciative I am. I just gave your fix a try. Unfortunately, same issue still exists. Phone powers down when I select "restart" from the power button menu but won't power back up unless I press the power button again.

Re: Reboot option not working properly after s-off-rooting?
Ok, update: I just uninstalled the apps "spare parts" and "ROM Manager" as these were the latest ones I had added. Phone reboots now but its like a delayed reboot in you select the restart option, you see the Sprint splash screen, screen goes blank (but backlight is still on), it sits there like that for about 10 seconds, then it reboots. I'm going to try adding each of those apps back one at time and see what happens.
