Sounds like you have something funky going on under the hood. The question is, is it hardware or software related.

Are you rooted and ROM'd or straight stock?

Well either way it might not matter. I would say do a full factory reset and if you still get the reboots, then something might be going on with the hardware

Does the battery seem to hot? and check up near the rear camera lens, thats where the cpu is located, if it seems warm or even hot that could be the issue

if its the battery i would try a different one if you have access to one, after market batteries are fairly cheap or you can go with a better one, if its the cpu i would call sprint for a replacment

Well I have had the same problem and still have that problem. My last 3D was rooted and out of the blue it start shutting down for no reason. Phone wasn't hot or anything. I took it to sprint after trying to figure out the problem myself. They couldn't do anything with it either so they swapped it for a new one. I decided to stay fully stock no root. I took all the OTAs. Now this one is doing the same thing not as often but still the same thing. Has anyone figured out what's causing this?

Same problem and now I know for sure it isn't any apps I downloaded because I factory reset and didn't do anything other than setup the accounts the phone says to when it starts up for the first time. Here is a post I made in another forum just now:

I have had the exact same or similar problems with three different HTC EVO 3D phones. It has been an absolute nightmare.

I had to hassle with Radio Shack Wireless to send me 4 different replacement phones, two of which could not be activated because they were registered to another account or were reported lost or stolen. All three phones that I was able to activate have given me different permutations of basically the same problem. The first one I had would reset itself over and over. The second one and the one I have now will reset itself and then be unable to turn back on unless you take out the battery.

There are other issues I've noticed that the 4G would not work after an abnormal restart and when I tried to turn it off and on again the screen wouldn't work. It has also frozen up and the screen becomes unresponsive randomly at other times too too. The SD card also crapped out on this latest phone luckily sprint was nice enough to give me a courtesy replacement, of course they didn't know what to do about the abnormal reset BS they tried to tell me it was because of the SD card...yeah right, two hours later the phone has reset twice, 4G wouldn't work randomly and the phone froze and wouldn't even turn off without taking out the battery.

I would get another replacement of Radio Shack Wireless but they won't give me the same phone and I dig the 3D and everything I just want this thing to work.

Someone said the Kernel was incompatible with the ROM was that the stock stuff? How do I change the kernel and would that void my warranty?

I'm sick of dealing with customer service about this I've spent countless hours on the phone or in stores and I realized that all those people know is how to do is a reset and update basically then they try to send you on your way. Inevitably the reset and update fails to solve the abnormal reset problem. The only answer it seems is to get a replacement but I get the feeling HTC just resends out the phones that get returned to it without solving the abnormal reset issue (since it is intermittent they might think that it is fixed after a hard reset just like the repair people in the stores...). I know I'm not the only one having this issue I've seen forum posts about all over the internet. Official HTC forums about it seem to have been deleted and get this I tried to make an account there and it wouldn't even let me visit the forums!

Anyway I called sprint and told them I want a replacement and they tried to get me to pay $100 deductible on my insurance for it (which I am considering dropping after learning about the deductible which they of course failed to mention when they asked me if I wanted it). I told them that is ridiculous since this is a manufacturer defect issue, I didn't physically damage the phone.

I guess I'll have to just keep bringing it back to the sprint store until they relent and file for a repair or replacement through my warranty with HTC. Hopefully the one I eventually receive as a replacement works, I know some HTC EVO 3D phones work because my fiance seems to have one that is, relatively, free of problems (one time the camera stopped working and only worked again after pulling and replacing the battery, another time the phone got hot and shut down when on a car charger being used for navigation...other than that *cross fingers* it has been fine).

I am on my second phone. The first started shutting down after getting hot and finally wouldn't start back up. Went to Radio Shack and they called and got me a replacement phone ( I have Virgin Mobile). I was sent a second phone (the first was only 4 months old) and it was a refurbished phone. All was good for a couple weeks other than the fact the camera sucked, pic quality sucked, and sometimes I couldn't understand what a caller was saying when I got a call (like they had a plastic bag over the phone). 2 days ago the new/refurbished phone started shutting down and I was getting the error message. The phone was not getting hot at the battery this time, but I did notice that it only happened on really hot/humid days. My son has a Triumph phone and he just started having problems with his on these hot days too. He has never had a problem with his. I was told the processor was getting hot and coming out and the phone wouldn't work till it cooled off and set back in. Not sure if it is true. Do you find that yours only has problems when the weather is hot & humid??
