Re: wifi speeds?
I average about the same. I used it on a n-band network and reached speeds of 16 mbps

Re: wifi speeds?
Can anyone with a epic and evo3d compare wifi speeds and signal results..
Wifes epic 4g... 10-15 mbps on speed test..also on open signal the dbm are -52 to -53 link speed 26
evo3d 8-11 mbps on speed test.. also open signal same location dbm -66 to -68 link speed 39 to 52 - 07-13-2011, 09:48 PM #7
Re: wifi speeds?
On my EVO 3D, I get about 12 mbps, as long as nobody in my apartment building starts torrenting porn over our cable internet. Don't think I've ever been as high as 16, though.

Re: wifi speeds?
change the wifi setting to best performance. Settings...wireless and network...wifi settings. Then hit the menu button on the phone and select advanced. Here you will find the setting. It does warn you it takes more battery power. I have used it and I do get faster wifi but the life of the battery seemed to be cut in half.
So I normally use it when I am in the bed room watching a movie on Netflix or playing a game.Last edited by McPlot; 07-14-2011 at 12:56 AM.

Re: wifi speeds?
Thanks for the info.. I already tried best WiFi performance and it really did nothing..Her epic also gets stronger signal on 3g . I'm wondering if something is wrong with my evo3. The speeds on the evo3 seem to be the same as my original evo. My laptop tops out around 24mbps. Any other side by side phone results would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: wifi speeds?
My last test, after rebooting my router when I noticed slow speeds on my laptop, came in at 19.34MB. Of course this is when the 20+ networked devices in my house aren't pulling data. Otherwise, I get around 12-14 MB.

Re: wifi speeds?
I just tried it with the Best wifi performance and I got 18.27mbps I wonder if with an over clock it would go higher?

Re: wifi speeds?
I get between 12-14mbps but thats what my FIOS tops out at (15/5).
Has anyone else noticed a Wi-Fi deathgrip on their 3D? I notice that if I'm holding it in landscape mode with my hand "cupping" the left side of my screen (the earpiece side, where presumably the wifi antenna sits) I completely lose connectivity to Wi-Fi. This is problematic when watching a movie (like on Netflix) and makes me really miss that kickstand... - 07-14-2011, 02:37 PM #14Android Ninja in Training

Re: wifi speeds?
Hmm. I was messing with it this morning. I even had a wifi scanning app up and watched my signal strength drop every time I put my hand around the top of the phone. I was admittedly in a location with already low signal strength (2-3 "bars") but I could easily make it drop all the way (to just the 1 "bar" aka just the ball at the bottom of the Wi-Fi indicator) and lose connectivity.
I was trying to watch HBO Go the other night with the phone in landscape being held with each hand on either end, and I was having issues with buffering (could just be the ****ty HBO app though). Maybe I was degrading the Wi-Fi signal. Not sure why you would not be able to replicate unless maybe you are getting a much stronger initial signal than I and thus it is harder to degrade that signal.
