Default Android 4.0 - Ice Cream Sandwich on HTC EVO 3D

Now that the announcement of Ice Cream Sandwich is coming, should we expect it on the HTC EVO 3D or are some of the features on the phone not going to work? Obviously there is no barometer of NFC but will it still work on the EVO 3D??

    Thoughts??

I am sure we will see ICS on the 3D. But, do not expect to see the next version of android on it. HTC will have to sell its "new" phones.

It won't be out for some time though. A few months unofficially and I read somewhere 9-10 months officially based on past updates

    ROOT IT IS!!!!

There is no worry in my mind when it comes to HTC. They will update us to 4.0 (Unrooted). Its just a matter of when. Could be a few months could be 10 like stated above. We don't really know. One thing that I do know is HTC has a GREAT track record for when it comes to updating their older phones.

Hopefully, they'll go with stock ICS. It looks great by itself, and updates might come faster.

I think a combination of ICS and Sense would be great. I have the NS4G as well so I will be able to see it in its pure from as well. I think both variations will have their benefits.

Face it guys... If we get ICS... Legitimate ICS from HTC.... It will be like the update to Gingerbread...

Sense overpowers every OS that it runs on. If we get ICS it will still be Sense and all the cool new stuff... wont be seen. It will take someone to port ICS, " vanilla ics ", for us to REALLY appreciate ICS.

Dont get me wrong, ICS will be coming eventually, but the question is from who, and how... sense or no sense....

If its HTC it will take forever and NEVER be like the ICS you all have seen.

Just my $0.02 since ive been talking non stop about this on the side

Pardon me for being new to Android, but how is Sence 4.0ish going to somehow overpower the new ICS? Enhance it, sure. But overpower it? How?
After all, the EVO3D is running gingerbread right now with all the goodies....just enhanced. In fact, I personally love the enhancements.

So how is it that if we get ICS, we will somehow not get some of the goodies just because of Sence.
Just what goodies could ICS have that can't be done using a UI that HTC makes? I just don't get it.
Don't get me wrong...I expect it to look different then a nexus phone. After all, a nexus phone is nothing but a blank slate that needs to be updated with widgets and other stuff just to look HALF as good as phones that has a polished UI.

So how again can we get ICS yet not "see" any of the goodies? Sence doesn't block the new stuff....it enhances it.

I don't know if I want 2 sets of buttons?!?!. The only thing that blows my skirt up so far is the browser, webOS cards/notifications. I guess I'll wait to see what HTC brings us for ICS, if anything.

HTC WILL bringus ICS. Just of a matter of when and what features? We hope all of them!

Like posters up above have said. It may take some time to get it officially from HTC. But it's coming. I am excited about the update being an old WebOS user from 2009 up until about 2-3 months ago. I picked HTC because they know how to update their hardware. They have a great track record! So I have no reason to believe that wouldn't come. Just sit tight and it will be here!

Sense is its own UI.... I see NO gingerbread in Sense. Its working on Gingerbread but there is NOTHING visual in Sense that says hey, im gingerbread.

Rosie is the launcher for sense and makes sense what it is....

4.0, looks so nice on its own that once they throw sense on top of it... its still gonna look the same.

Sense is a LAUNCHER.... changes the visual UI.

Hence how some hate and how some love sense.

I personally go back n forth but I cant wait for some stripped down ported ICS love for our EVO 3D's.

I agree, Sence is the UI. Of course you don't see gingerbread. Gingerbread is the OS, not the UI.
The UI on a stock Android nexus is still a blank slate. In other words, once you invest in adding widgets and other stuff, it is no longer stock Android. Adding launchers changes everything about the "look" of the UI but still doesn't normally remove a feature or prevent something from working....it is still gingerbread in all its glory, but just unpolished.

Sence just makes that blank slate polished.
Think about it, if the EVO3D didn't have the spinning effect and you removed the widgets, how would it look any different then a blank nexus? When you flick the screen to the left or right (with no widgets on the screens) just what are you seeing different on the nexus phone? What makes the last nexus "look" gingerbreadish?

I agree, some people will never like any form of Sence. Just like I'm not a fan of touchwiz. But we are now talking about the UI or launcher and not gingerbread or ICS.
So if I missed something and ICS has some type of polished UI, then once again, ICS is just the OS with little to no special look or feel to it...or a blank slate again for you to build on.

Not to argue but what i think you are saying is that you like Sence 3.0. But what if HTC decided to make the new ICS UI more like Sence 3.5? What if you hate the look or feel of 3.5? What if you love the spinning effect and must have it?

My point is that some people have fears about just what it could look like. I personally think it will be more like Sence 3.5 then anything like we have now.

I personally don't like how bloated the os is. 650mb of space, 2 minutes to boot. Stock Android is 150 and boots in 20 seconds. Plus uses a lot less RAM.

If sense were more lean and less sluggish I would be a bigger fan
