    Default Gmail not pushing/syncing?

Has anyone else had this problem. It just started a few days ago. I do have two different GMail accounts and have checked the sync settings and all of them are set to auto sync. Usually, gmail emails are all but instantaneous but not lately. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. Everything good for the past month and now the last couple of days I have been getting an orange triangle notification and the message:

"Unable to connect to imap.vzw.net. [Read timed out]"

I have tried re-entering my Gmail login credentials under "account settings" but that has not worked.

    Any ideas?

I had the same problem and think I figured out a solution. I suspect this is an issue related with a Gmail update. I uninstalled all Gmail updates and reverted it back to version 2.3.4.1. I think this is the stock version that my 3D came with. Anyways, once I uninstalled ALL Gmail updates, Gmail started working again. The auto synch worked beautifully. Emails come through with NO problems. Try this and see if it works

which app is this for, the one that is actually "GMAIL" or the one called "MAIL" that lets you set up a gmail account? Originally I used the latter and it has options within the app to set the amount of time it checks email, peak/off peak hours and such. It was pretty good. I have several gmail accounts for business or personal. My main gmail was listed twice under "accounts and synch" once for the actual gmail app, and once for the mail app. I got sick of looking at the same thing twice so I went to delete the gmail one and it said "do you really want to delete this account, deleting it will also delete all contacts, messages, data, etc, from the phone". So i said no and deleted the MAIL app instead and i dont like the format of the GMAIL app, it never notifies me of email unless I manual synch it, and dont know where the settings are to even change update times

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Turned out, in my case, I had too many applications installed on my phone, so not enough memory left. I purged my phone of all the unused apps to open up space, and that solved the problem.

I have the same issue and yes I am roaming but using wifi. I personally think it is a verizon modification to force you to use cell network data by routing gmail email synching through their own servers over the cell network instead of leaving it alone.

I don't think it is a coincidence that you cant change setting manually for gmail once added or even on initial setup. I am trying K-9 mail now but it is still not able to connect on gmail but all other accounts on K-9 are okay even though they were also not working over wifi with standard app.

I am trying to investigate if there is a hosts file type re-route somewhere on the phone and if I find a solution will post.

I could not get the uninstall updates or any other button to fix the mail delivery and notification to my GingerBread 2.3.5 so I used IMAP and it's working, but not the CORRECT solution. Thinking of moving everything over to Apple in near future...this is way too cumbersome.

This worked for me, thanks! I was getting pretty frustrated.

It was working fine after the ICS update. Problem seems to have started late Friday.
