My apps no longer push notifications if the app is closed and not running in the background.

I used to have Astrid Tasks, but then the notifications stopped showing if the app wasn't already running, which made Astrid useless, so I uninstalled it, and now have tried a whole slew of similar apps, like Remember the Milk, any.do, Gtasks and others, and they all have the same problem - unless the app is running, no notifications.

I never had this problem until about a month ago and don't know what to do. Any ideas?

I should point out that all native apps are showing notifications properly and the Gmail app is showing notifications properly too.

I've had issues in the past with apps that did push notifications when I moved them to sd. Are they on sd or phone memory? If they're not on the phone, try that first. Otherwise maybe check to see if you accidentally disabled background updates
