What Does The EVO3D's Camera Facial Recognition Do Exactly?

I used my phones camera today to take a picture of a persons face for the first time and notice that the EVO3D has Facial Recognition software built into the camera. Since I have not owned a camera before with this feature, I wanted to find out more about it. What does Facial Recognition in the EVO3D do exactly? And what is the feature that lets you press and highlight an object on the screen in the camera mode?

In photography, the general rule is that when taking photos of people, you want the point of focus to be the eyes.

Face detection assumes that you want to be focused on the faces in the photo and attempts to have as many faces in the photo in focus as possible.
