Today, my stock, non-rooted 3VO stopped playing sounds and stopped vibrating for text notifications for both Handcent and the stock messaging app.

I have rebooted the phone several times.

I have checked and re-checked the settings in both apps and the main Android Sound settings.

I have used the Audio manager app to set the volume and vibrate as well.

Still, no sound, no vibrations.

I have searched the web with no success on this.

And other ideas? This is very annoying.

Something similar happened to me. When it stopped, I'd have to reboot my phone. Then it worked for a bit, and stopped again. Finally, I cleared my cache, and that did the trick. No issues since. You could give that a whirl.

My wife is having the same problem. I've been running different roms on mine pretty much since day one and haven't had many problems, but i left her stock.

so I ended up putting meanROM on hers since i've been happy with it. she still has problems and I don't.

her notifications actually come and go throughout the day without her changing anything or even rebooting. i've messed with everything and checked and double checked all the settings, factory reset (prior to flashing meanROM), had her try running handcent instead of the stock message app, and all with no luck.

i've googled the heck out of this and none of the threads ever go anywhere.

at this point I dont know what else it could be. I did have the issue once on mine but a reboot fixed it and it hasn't happened since.

she's really getting fed up with it. her phone is hboot 1.5 and mine is 1.4, and like I said now we're both running the same rom.
