evo 3d wont load any other zips but 2.08

ok so to get straight to the point, when i first started with my evo it had hboot 1.5 soft 2.17 and i wanted it rooted and bootloader unlocked and to get s-off so i can use cm7 or 9. i unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone but was dumb to try and install cm7 with s-on ended up bricking my phone. whats worse is i didnt back up my previous software so after getting sent to a crappy fileshare network a million times for ruu's and being denied cuz they dont have enough bandwidth, i found a copy of 2.08 bout 2 days ago flashed it works good but no camera and wifi. today i found a stock one to reset me to 2.17 but everytime i go to flash it it says installation failed. im really burnt out i've had little to no sleep on this all i really want is to bring it back to 2.17 so i can lower my hboot to get s-off so i can put cyanogen on my phone. any ideas?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21374142&postcount=131 you have to use flash image GUI to flash on 1.5 or downgrade to 1.4! I'm not sure if ext4 recovery is capable of flashing hboot1.5! But that is the best recovery.

yep 4EXT does flash the boot.img on 1.5 now
why do you need s-off the flash cm7?
