New evo 3d for nothing from Sprint
Been having screen issues for a few months now and several resets later I finally got myself into sprint repair store. They looked at it, told me my screen was bad, and ordered me a new one. Guy told me since I have insurance it won't cost me a penny. I asked him" am I getting a refurbished one? "he said "no sir, I just ordered you a brand new one, should be here in a few days. No charge " I love sprint. I only need it for a few more months until new evo comes out. actually he told me the new evo lte will be here in may. Next month I will be selling a nearly new evo 3d. Nice.

Well he ordered the new one and told me it will be here in 2 days. Still using my broke one until new one comes in. This screen is driving me crazy but now I know I only have to put up with it until Thursday the latest.

What about the $99 deductable? or Do you pay more than $8 a month on insurance?. I have the same problem but decided to hold out till May when the new EVO comes out, cos the store associate here in CA insisted I have to pay my $99 deductable.

Second time I ever used insurance in 4 years and both times never paid a deductible. First time it was my palm pre, did not get it replaced but they fixed something, forgot what it was. I pay 8 dollars a month, that's all. No deductible. If it's something that is not your fault, and you are not the cause of the problem,,(they determined that) there is no deductible. I new this already but that's how he also explained it to me. My phone still looked brand new, not one blemish. Not my fault the screen stopped working properly.

Re: New evo 3d for nothing from Sprint
If your phone is less than a year old they prolly put it through as a defect in the HTC hardware. Providing there is no damage done to the unit. We all get a year warranty with any new device. Its the law!

Glad they did the right thing.HTC One (ATT GSM)
Palm Pre- > HTC Evo 3D > HTC One X (White) > Samsung Galaxy S3 (White) > HTC One (Silver)

I'm lucky, these guys in repair store which is 2mins from my house are straight shooters/good guys. They have been in the store for over 4 years now so I know who I'm dealing with when I go in there.

Re: New evo 3d for nothing from Sprint
With the $8 a month you're actually paying for two different services. In store repair is include for free, no deductable. That's why if they replace your screen in store you don't pay the deductable. You're also paying for insurance through Assurant. If you need a whole new phone then you pay the $100 deductable and they send you a "new" phone (often a refurb).
But every phone purchase comes with a 1 year warrenty, so if it's a defect within the first year, you can get a new phone without paying the deductable. - 04-24-2012, 12:34 PM #13
Re: New evo 3d for nothing from Sprint
The caveat is this: if you're under the manufacturer warranty and don't have TEP on your plan, you have to send it in and deal with everything, including being without a phone, shipping it, etc. After the warranty expires in a year you're SOL. Obviously you have the 30-day return policy regardless, but with TEP everything is covered for as long as you have the device, deductible-free, even if it's out of manufacturer's warranty. Even better is that usually you can do an advanced exchange on the phone with tech support as well and bypass the store altogether. The ONLY time you have to pay a deductible is when you make a claim through Asurion and that would only be if you physically broke the device (including shattered screens), got it wet or lost it.
So for manny188, I'd be curious as to what your problem actually is. And where in Cali are you at? I'm in SoCal and the Sprint store by me is pretty good at taking care of that stuff. - 04-25-2012, 12:36 AM #14
Deductibles only apply to lost, stolen, or you having broken your own phone. Within the first year.
Manufactures warranties cover the defects that happen within the first year, that you did nothing to invoke.
Basically, within the first year, if you didn't lose it, get it stolen, or break it, they have to replace defective item for free. - 04-25-2012, 12:45 AM #15

Re: New evo 3d for nothing from Sprint
This is why I try to go through advanced exchange with tech support on the phone: when they ship the phone to you (and it comes to your home, not the store), they overnight it and send you the tracking number. I've even had devices delivered on a Saturday. At the stores, you just wait for a few days and hope your replacement comes in their next shipment.
